2027 JAMB UTME Registration: Dates, Guidelines and What to Know

This page is editorial news. It is not treated as rewarded content unless backend metadata explicitly confirms otherwise.

he Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has begun preparations for the 2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with the examination body already publishing approved registration centres and updating materials for computer-based testing.

The developments signal the start of preparations for the next admission cycle, although JAMB has not yet published an official 2027 UTME registration timetable that confirms when candidates will begin purchasing application documents or completing registration.

JAMB’s official website currently lists 2027 approved registration centres across Nigeria, while the Board has also published a 2027 JAMB test installer and test manual updated on September 18, 2026.

Prospective candidates should therefore be cautious about registration dates, fees or other 2027 UTME information circulating online until the Board officially releases the details.

What has JAMB confirmed so far?

The most concrete indication of preparations for the 2027 examination is the publication of the approved registration-centre list.

JAMB’s registration-centre portal currently identifies centres approved for the 2027 registration exercise, covering locations across states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The Board has also made available a 2027 JAMB Test Installer, updated on September 18, 2026, and a 2027 JAMB Test Manual, also updated on September 18. Both appear on JAMB’s official website under resources for CBT centres.

These are operational preparations for the examination system rather than an announcement that candidate registration has opened.

Registration dates have not been officially confirmed

One of the most important issues for prospective candidates is the registration timetable.

At the time of publication, JAMB’s official public materials available for verification do not provide confirmed 2027 dates for:

  • UTME application opening;
  • e-PIN sales;
  • candidate registration;
  • optional mock examination registration;
  • registration closing;
  • UTME examination dates; or
  • the release of the full 2027 application advertisement.

This distinction matters because previous JAMB registration dates cannot simply be carried forward to the new examination year.

Candidates should therefore avoid treating dates shared on social media, blogs, WhatsApp groups or unofficial education platforms as confirmed until they appear in an official JAMB announcement.

What happened during the 2026 registration exercise?

The previous UTME cycle provides useful context for candidates preparing for 2027.

For the 2026/2027 admission cycle, JAMB’s application process required candidates to use a National Identification Number (NIN) and create a profile code before completing registration. Candidates were also required to use accredited CBT centres for the registration process.

JAMB’s published 2026 guidance also required candidates to provide information relating to their chosen institution, programme and UTME subject combination.

The Board warned candidates against multiple registrations, impersonation and the use of unauthorised registration centres.

The specific requirements and fees for 2027 will need to be confirmed when JAMB publishes the new year’s official advertisement.

Candidates should prepare their NIN

Although candidates should wait for the official 2027 requirements before completing registration, prospective UTME candidates can begin checking that their personal information is correct.

JAMB’s existing registration system relies on information linked to the candidate’s NIN.

The Board’s guidance has required candidates to ensure that important personal information matches across their NIN and educational documents, including names and date of birth.

Candidates preparing for 2027 should therefore check their documents early.

Errors discovered shortly before registration can create avoidable difficulties.

Candidates will need an individual phone number

JAMB’s existing registration system also requires candidates to use a unique phone number for their profile-code process.

The Board’s FAQ states that two candidates cannot use the same mobile number for registration and that candidates should use their profile code and e-PIN at an accredited CBT centre.

Prospective candidates should therefore avoid relying on a temporary number that they may lose access to during the admission process.

The same phone number can become important for receiving registration-related information and recovering account details.

Registration must be completed at approved centres

JAMB’s current guidance states that UTME registration is completed at JAMB-approved Computer-Based Testing centres.

The Board’s FAQ specifically warns candidates against registering at unauthorised centres.

This is particularly important because candidates can be vulnerable to unofficial agents who claim they can guarantee registration, examination scores or admission.

JAMB has repeatedly advised candidates to use its official platforms and approved centres.

Candidates should be careful with profile codes and passwords

A JAMB profile code is an important part of the registration process.

The Board’s official FAQ warns candidates to keep security information such as profile codes, passwords, e-PINs and other account information confidential. It also states that CBT centres should not request a candidate’s password.

Candidates should therefore avoid giving account credentials to friends, agents or unofficial admission consultants.

If assistance is required, candidates should use JAMB’s official support channels or visit an appropriate JAMB office or accredited centre.

The UTME is only one part of university admission

A UTME score does not by itself guarantee admission into a university.

Admission is processed through JAMB’s Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), while individual institutions also have admission requirements and procedures.

JAMB’s CAPS dashboard currently shows the ongoing 2026/2027 admission cycle, including candidates at different stages of institutional recommendation, approval and acceptance.

This illustrates the different stages between taking the UTME and actually receiving and accepting an admission offer.

Prospective 2027 candidates should therefore think about admission requirements from the beginning rather than waiting until after the examination.

Course and institution choices matter

Candidates are expected to select their preferred institutions and programmes during the JAMB application process.

The choice should be made carefully because admission depends on several factors, including the candidate’s qualifications, programme requirements, UTME performance, institutional policies and available spaces.

JAMB’s Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System, known as IBASS, provides information that candidates can use when checking programme and subject requirements. JAMB lists IBASS among its official candidate resources.

Candidates should check the requirements for their intended courses before finalising their choices.

Check subject combinations early

Choosing the wrong UTME subject combination can create problems during the admission process.

The subjects required depend on the course and institution.

JAMB’s existing registration system asks candidates to provide their chosen field of study, programme and UTME subject combination.

Students planning for 2027 can therefore begin researching the requirements for their preferred courses before registration opens.

This is particularly useful for competitive programmes where subject requirements may be specific.

O’Level results remain important

Candidates should also prepare their secondary-school examination credentials.

JAMB’s admission and registration procedures require candidates to provide relevant O’Level information, and candidates awaiting results have responsibilities to upload their results when they become available.

Candidates should make sure their names and other personal details are consistent across their educational documents and NIN records.

Where there is a discrepancy, it is better to investigate the issue early rather than discover it during the admission process.

What about cut-off marks?

Cut-off marks should not be confused with the minimum score a candidate needs simply to sit the UTME.

Admission cut-off requirements can depend on the institution, programme and decisions made during the admission process.

JAMB’s CAPS system shows that candidates are processed according to eligibility and institutional admission procedures rather than through one universal score that guarantees admission into every course.

Candidates should therefore wait for official announcements concerning the relevant admission cycle instead of relying on unofficial lists claiming that one score guarantees admission to every university or programme.

Do not pay unofficial agents for admission

The beginning of a new JAMB cycle often creates opportunities for fraudulent admission schemes.

Candidates may encounter people claiming they can obtain a higher UTME score, manipulate CAPS, guarantee admission or change an institutional decision in exchange for money.

Candidates should treat such claims with caution.

JAMB’s official resources provide access to its e-Facility, CAPS, IBASS, accredited-centre information and candidate support channels.

Where a candidate encounters a problem, using the official system provides a more reliable route than handing over account information to an unofficial agent.

JAMB has official support channels

Candidates who experience registration or admission problems can use JAMB’s Central Online Support System.

The Board’s website provides a ticketing system for complaints and enquiries, alongside links to e-Facility, CAPS, IBASS and other candidate services.

JAMB’s FAQ also provides answers to common questions about profile codes, e-PINs, registration, admission and account access.

Candidates should save these official resources rather than relying solely on social-media pages.

What prospective 2027 candidates can do now

While waiting for the official registration announcement, candidates can prepare by:

  1. Checking that their NIN information is accurate.
  2. Keeping access to their personal mobile number.
  3. Preparing their O’Level results or understanding the status of awaiting results.
  4. Researching suitable courses and institutions.
  5. Checking the required UTME subject combination for intended courses.
  6. Familiarising themselves with JAMB’s official e-Facility and IBASS platforms.
  7. Identifying the nearest approved CBT centre when the 2027 registration list is confirmed.
  8. Avoiding unofficial agents and unverified registration dates.
  9. Waiting for JAMB’s official announcement before paying for 2027 registration.
  10. Keeping their profile and account information private.

These steps can reduce the risk of last-minute mistakes.

What candidates should wait for

The next major information prospective candidates need is JAMB’s official 2027 UTME application announcement.

That announcement should provide the details candidates need to complete the process, including registration dates, fees, eligibility requirements, application procedures and other important instructions.

Until then, candidates should not assume that the 2026 timetable will automatically apply to 2027.

The same applies to registration fees, mock-examination arrangements, examination dates and other operational requirements.

2027 preparations are already underway

The publication of 2027 approved registration centres and the updated CBT test installer and manual show that preparations for the next UTME cycle are already underway.

For prospective candidates, however, preparation by JAMB does not yet mean that registration has opened.

The most important step at this stage is to prepare personal and academic documents, research course requirements and monitor JAMB’s official channels for the formal registration announcement.

When the Board releases the 2027 registration dates and guidelines, candidates should use those official instructions as the basis for their applications.
